June 20 Update

Week Two has come and gone. Camp had the normal bee stings and scraped knees, but otherwise remained healthy. Troops participated in the Gong Show campfire last night and received their camp awards such as the Long Rifle, Scoutmaster Dutch Oven Cook-Off award etc..
This morning was another clear cool morning with a bustle of activity, troops packed and moving and staff cleaning everything that didn't move. Adjusting tents and platforms to make sure we have enough in each site for the coming week, power washing the dining hall porch, trash pick-up, cleaning showers and restrooms etc... By noon we will have finished and by 2 this afternoon the first troops of week three will arrive. All in all 120 campers will arrive today and another 650 tomorrow from 16 different councils. |

We picked up my son from his week just ended at CDB -- and he could not have been happier with the entire experience. You could just see the growth in confidence that a full scouting week with good leadership will provide. Thank you to everyone with the CDB staff that make this all possible!

Our troop is attending in a couple weeks and the updates are helpful with putting parents minds at ease with sending their scouts to camp. Thank you and keep them up!

Happy Father's Day to all dads at Camp Daniel Boone today! My son's troop just returned from an outstanding camp experience last week, and I want to again thank all staff for the daily updates to put our minds at ease and inform us of daily activities, and also for taking great care of our kids. They are already looking forward to next year!

Happy Father's Day to first-time father-to-be, camp director Dan Rogers. You are a wonderful "dad" to the staff and campers out there, and I know you will be a wonderful dad to our little one when he (or she) arrives later this year. I love you! ~Nina

So glad to hear that Week 2 had no new influenza of any type. Please keep the evening updates coming...both of my sons should have arrived today, along with the rest of Troop 1524 from Virginia. I'm sure they will have a wonderful trip, hopefully illness-free.
